School’s out for summer, but the needs of school children in Delaware County are heavy on the minds and hearts of those here at St. Andrew’s. While our Food Ministry is busy feeding nearly 90 Olentangy Local elementary school students over the summer, the Order of the Daughters of the Holy Cross (DOHC) is gearing up for a renewal of their school supply drive.
Food Ministry needs your help to feed school children
The Food Ministry needs your help as it helps feed school children over the summer. In this, the fourth week of the program, the ministry will be preparing sloppy joes on biscuits donated by Bob Evans, and needs help with food preparation, including the meat, cheese slices, and frozen mixed vegetables.
Rachel Cherubini, the ministry’s coordinator, also needs help with food preparation when she’s on vacation later this summer. Meals during that time will include creamed chicken over pasta, with chicken and pasta from Bob Evans. Your donation of cream of chicken soup and frozen mixed vegetables will help round out the recipe ingredients. Many thanks to those who have already donated food or made cash contributions to the ministry!
Please contact Rachel at 740-548-5112, ext. 1 or rcherubini@standrewspolaris.org to volunteer or donate food items, or for more information.
School supply drive to fulfill classroom ‘wish lists’
Once again, the Daughters of the Holy Cross with support from the congregation, is “Helping Teachers Help the Students” in Delaware City Schools. This year they’re doing things a little differently than they did during their inaugural school supply drive in 2018 (pictured above). They asked teachers what they would “wish” for their classrooms under $20, and have made tags with those items.
You’re invited to take one or two of the tags from the board in the Gathering Area. Donations may be new, or gently used items in good, clean condition.
Please put the number that is on the tag you take on the item(s) you donate. Through the numbers the Daughters will be able to match up items with the appropriate teacher.
Thank you in advance for your support and prayers for Delaware City Schools teachers and students!
